It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's summer, so I'm trying to read as much as I can. While I work full time, write a novel, have a social life, and possibly train for the NY Century. Oh! And finish all seasons of Mad Men.
Ok, unrealistic, but what's life without ambition?

Thanks J. Kaye's Book Blog and Jenn's Bookshelf for the idea .

I'm not a book reviewer, but I read books to be a better writer. So I'll certainly share with all of you when I discover that a book is inspiring to me as a writer for whatever reason that may be. I can't guarantee anything earth-shattering but well, ya know...

So here goes...

Recently Completed:
Michael Chabon's The Wonder Boys

Currently Reading:
The Floating World by Cynthia Kadohata

Up Next:
You tell me. Maybe I'll read it.

Now we'll see how quickly (i.e. slowly) I keep up.

So what are you reading?

  1. Michael Chabon's "The Wonder Boys" sounds like a good one to read!

  2. Every summer I read John Steinbeck's, The Log From The Sea Of Cortez.
While being one of the most amazing writers of all time, Steinbeck was also really into Marine Biology and wrote a diary/novel/study of a specimen collecting expedition he made around the gulf of California. I estimate he was around 49 when he did it, so I'd like to make the same trip, or at least part of it by the time I'm that age. Reading the book every summer keeps it in my mind.

Also reading Skeleton Creek when I can find time to watch the accompanying videos to it, and waiting for the Amanda Project to come out - very intriguing!

  6. Thanks everyone! I have now added even more books to my 'to read' list. Maybe my Monday lists will simply be a running compliation of 'to read', currently reading, and never completed. lol.

  7. I just finished "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society," which I enjoyed, and am currently re-reading "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." Ginny, put that diary away!

  8. I prefer television myself... especially Golden Girls episodes. "You are sentenced to 7 minutes on the lanai with me!"
